About the SRAM Whittlesea Challenge
Held on Saturday August 30, the event starts in the idyllic township of Whittlesea, only 35 minutes from central Melbourne. The 110km course takes riders through Humevale, Kinglake West, Strath Creek & Broadford. The quiet country roads and picturesque scenery will make the stress of Melbourne traffic seem a million miles away. The course contains testing climbs at Humevale and Strath Creek providing riders of all abilities with the opportunity to strive to achieve your personal goals. The course then brings riders back into Whittlesea where you will be able to enjoy the country hospitality that Whittlesea has to offer. The roads surrounding Whittlesea have long been popular with cyclists of all abilities. Australian star Cadel Evans grew up in Arthur's Creek just down the road from Whittlesea, and still rates this as one of his favourite training regions anywhere in the world. 2007 Australian Road Champion Darren Lapthorne also learnt his trade riding the roads of Whittlesea. So why not take the challenge and see what all the fuss is about, and who knows maybe the magic in the Whittlesea air will rub off on you! Contact Adam Smith |
